The Rhythm of my Heart - Velvet Reed
(Matters of the Heart #1)

 Good reads

`** This book is recommended for people over 18 years due to strong language and sexual content.**

Grace Rivers is your everyday twenty-five year old. She could have the world at her feet, but instead chooses to help run the family business. After experiencing great loss early in her life, Grace values what's most important: her family and friends. But she aches to find that certain someone—that one great, passionate love who values family as much as she does.

Cole Tierney loves his life. He has a wonderful family, a loyal best friend and a successful career as an ER doctor. The only downside is he wants someone to share it with. After being used and left heartbroken, he wants to find someone who will love him for him and not his or his family's status.

"Every beat my heart makes is for you. Every time it beats faster it's because of you—because you're near me, because of your smile—because you take my breath away."

Their two hearts collide by chance and an undeniable connection is quickly made.

But when others are plotting against their happiness, will their love flatline, or will the rhythm of their hearts continue to beat as one?

Warning: This book ends on a cliffhanger, so if cliffhangers aren't you're thing, then please stop reading!! If you don't mind one, then carry on reading, I promise it will be well-worth your time!!

This is Velvet Reed's debut novel and what a debut novel it was!!! She most definitly has a bright, bright future if the books to come are like this and she certainly has a fan for life in me!!! The book grabbed me from the very first word, and i dont mean of the first chapter. Rather in the beautiful dedication to her father, which had the tears flowing even before I'd even started.

Rhythm of my heart took me on an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end and with every subsequent page I found myself drawn in further to the story, so much so that I was unable to put it down, unless i had to.
So I highly recommend finding some quite down time to read it because once you get going you wont be able to stop!!!!!

The story revolves around Grace, who is twenty five and alternates between helping run her family's business and looking after her niece who is deaf, and Cole who is a successful ER doctor. Both have been hurt by previous partners, yet they both yearn for that someone special to share their lives with.

A chance meeting in the emergency room starts an absolutely amazing journey between Grace and Cole that comes complete with twists and turns, drama and tears and just went you think they're finally going to get their HEA, the book comes to an abrupt halt with a BANG!!

The book will leave you laughing out loud.

It will have you shedding more then just a few tears, so keep tissues handy.

There are a few moments when you'll find yourself wanting to kick some serious ass, slap someone silly, pull hair, even scratch a few eyes out!!! (generally those moments are all for one person - yes there's one of those "woman" in the storyline lol).

It will leave you sighing, wishing for you very own Dr Cole!!

The bedroom scenes are steamy and H.O.T that left me fanning myself more then once.

I absolutely adore all the characters - they all compliment each other and mesh so well together. I especially love Grace's florist bff!!!

Grace is a one very special character. She's sweet, beautiful, loyal and honest to a tee.  There really isn't anything she wouldn't do for her family and friends. The loss she experiences at such a young age has made her value each and every day of life she's given.

Cole is super H.O.T but he's more then that. He's compassionate, charming, loyal and very romantic.  Despite having a successful career his feet are firmly planted on the ground which probably has alot to do with his supportive family.  There is a moment or two that you want to slap him across the head for being utterly stupid, but other then he's awesome.

Despite the ending this book will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy for days afterwards and once I've found some spare time I'm planning on reading it all over again!!

***** out of 5 stars for an absolutely beautiful love story Velvet. Looking forward to the second book, it cant come out soon enough
