A free-spirited woman…
Eccentric interior designer Mirelle Brasseur is tired of relationships with handsome, charming, fickle men—in other words men just like the father who abandoned her. She’s fun and funky, but takes her career seriously. She’s not about to let a man derail her dreams or wound her heart again.
An ambitious man…
Award winning chef Bradan Hunt is handsome and charming, but he's always honest with women about his one date-one night rule. Between his best-selling cookbooks, his TV appearances, and his restaurant, he’s too busy for a relationship. He saw what a lack of ambition did to his parents. Bradan wants more. His newest restaurant is going to be the best, so he hires Mirelle to help him design it.
Turn up the heat…
Soon it isn’t just the food sizzling in the kitchen, in spite of Mirelle’s misgivings, as the attraction between the chef and the designer heats up. It will take more than one date-one night for them to overcome their pasts and find a way to cook up a sweet future together.

Mirelle arrived at Dolce promptly at seven o’clock, wearing the same clothes she’d worn all day. She was often at the office until six or later, and there hadn’t been time to go home to change. Not that it mattered. The leopard skirt was one of her favorites and anyway, it was just a business dinner. She’d touched up her mascara and lipstick in the ladies’ room at work and then drove to the popular restaurant near the pier.
Inside, she couldn’t help but smile as she looked around, remembering all her hard work. She didn’t know the hostess working that evening, but she spotted Bradan Hunt at a table for two. “I’m meeting Mr. Hunt,” she told the hostess who smiled and led her to the table.
She studied him as she approached the table, pasting a polite smile firmly in place.
His wavy mop of dark hair fell over his forehead in a boyish way, but there was nothing boyish about the short dark beard on his jaw and upper lip, barely more than stubble, giving him a dark, dangerous, intensely masculine look. His teeth flashed white when he smiled, his dark eyes gleaming.
He rose politely to greet her, dwarfing her five foot six with his height. She couldn’t fault his manners, though she’d been unsettled all day after their first meeting. She wasn’t sure why—he was just a client.
Oh, who was she kidding. She knew exactly why she was unsettled. Sex. That was why.
Bradan Hunt was sexy. There. She’d admitted it. He was an incredibly attractive man, with a sensual appeal that had her panties wet when they’d been talking business, for god’s sake. He was exactly the kind of man who appealed to her—wicked charm, easy, engaging smile, a beautiful face and the hottest body she’d seen…well…ever. He owned sexy.
He was exactly the kind of man she’d always been attracted to and had dated her whole life, the kind of man who took no responsibility for his actions, who lied and screwed around on her every single time.
“Hi.” The corners of his eyes crinkled in that engaging way as he smiled. “Thanks for coming tonight. I know you had to rearrange your schedule for this and I really do appreciate it.”
Her annoyance at having to give up her night working at the animal shelter melted away in the face of his warm and apparently sincere charm. She cursed herself mentally.
“Not a problem,” she replied, coolly, taking her seat.
His eyes dropped to her purse as she set it on the floor.“Uh…nice purse.”
She smiled. It was one of her favorites, a shiny red bag with a huge flower on the front, each petal edged with gold beads. “Thanks.”
A menu already sat on the table in front of her, and a server immediately appeared to hand her the silky white napkin from the goblet in front of her, then fill it with ice water. She smiled her thanks at the young man.
“You probably had personal plans this evening.” Bradan wrapped his hands around the drink in front of him.
She eyed it enviously. She needed a drink—something cold, preferably strong.
“Yes, I did, actually, but nothing that can’t be put off until tomorrow night.”
“No husband or boyfriend waiting at home?”
She narrowed her eyes at him. “What does that have to do with our business?”
He held up a hand. “Nothing at all. Please, forgive me. I was just making
conversation.” Again his contrition seemed genuine and she felt like an utter bitch.
Another server appeared at her side. “Something from the bar?” he inquired smoothly.
God, yes.
About Kelly Jamieson
Kelly Jamieson writes romances with heat that's sweet. Her writing has been described as “emotionally complex”, “sweet and satisfying” and “blisteringly sexy”. If she can stop herself from reading or writing, she loves to cook. She has shelves of cookbooks that she reads at length. She also enjoys gardening in the summer, and in the winter she likes to read gardening magazines and seed catalogues (there might be a theme here...) She also loves shopping, especially for clothes and shoes. But her family takes precedence over everything else (yes, even writing). She has two teenage children who are the best kids in the world, not that she’s biased, and a wonderful husband who does loads of laundry while she plays on the computer writing stories.
