Review
Winter, Book 1 in the Four Season's series by author Frankie Rose is a New Adult Romantic Suspense novel.
Avery Patterson has changed her name in the hope of starting a new life, in a new city, leaving behind her past and the fact that she's the daughter of a murderer in a small country town. She feels that's she's letting the hell she endured behind with the anonymity of being just another student at Columbia University, where she is studying Journalism. Her goal is to become another sort of journalist, one that doesn't just write a story to make headlines.
Nobody knows her secret shame (apart from her best friend of sorts, whom she confided in one night in a drunken state) until Luke Reid arrives on the scene.
Luke is a NYPD police officer by day and a sexy tattooed rock-star by night. He knows all about Avery/Iris's past as they're from the same small town and he was the officer who delivered the dreadful news about her father, a man who mentored him in high school.
Avery isn't the only one trying to hide from her past, Luke is also hiding from his demons and carries around a terrible secret that he knows would change peoples view of him. The other being that he's in love with Avery/Iris and has been for a very long time, even though Avery thinks he's always viewed her as a burden born of guilt.

The thing about your past is that no matter how far you run or for how long, its going to catch up to you sooner or later.
The big question is how you deal with it - do you stand and fight or keep running? Is being exposed for who you really are a bad thing when you're so tired of being someone else? Will you fight to protect something precious born of all the bad or just give up at the first hurdle? Avery and Luke have to answer all these questions and more when their past and present collide paths.
Winter will have you hooked from the first page to the very last, with twists and turns that will leave you guessing and plenty of 'Wow I didn't see that one coming' moments.
All the characters were amazing and had their role to play in the development of the story. They will make you laugh and cry and fall in love with them and some who you will positively hate from the get go.
Avery's mother is a fine example of this. All you want to do is give her a huge kick up the bum for being an absolutely horrible person and an even worse mother!!!!
I couldn't have picked a better book then Winter has my first book to read in the Romantic Suspense genre. Can't wait for the next book in the series!!!
