REVIEW

Discovering Lucy - Laura Dunaway

Where do I start with this book review....

It was beautifully written from start to finish.

It sucks you in from the very first to the very last sentence, page after page. I couldn't put this book down and ended up reading it in one day, with interruption of course (which I hated truth be told, but which I could do nothing about lol)

It follows the story of Lucy, a small time girl who suffered untold abuse at the hands of her boyfriend, Drake.  After enduring yet another beating at his hands, she decides enough is enough and leaves town, finding herself in New York, where she starts a new life for herself.
She's become very reserved and is vary of every male that shows an interest in her, definitely a case of once bitten twice shy.

She's working at the cosmetic's counter of a large departments store when she meets Knox.
Knox is a very prominent business man, whose face is known by almost everyone. He features regularly in the press and is one of those eligible bachelors that every lady seems to want. He's also a really nice guy.

He takes one look at Lucy and decides that she's the one for him and what follows is a love affair so intense (and at times infuriating)  that it will take your breath away. Not that you can blame Lucy for it considering all she's gone through!

Knox is intense, but caring and a true gentleman, careful of Lucy's wants and needs and very protective of the girl who's captivated his heart.

The book will make you laugh, shed a few tears and utter more than your share of sighs. It really is a heartwarming story of love and a happy ever after despite the pain and tears that it took to get there.  There are always silver linings on dark clouds, you just have to look for them

The brave and courageous woman in abusive relationships are those that walk away from abusive relationships, not the ones that stay and take the abuse.

***** out of 5 stars
