For the first time ever, booze can't mask his feelings. After over a decade of the rockstar life, Rick finally feels like he has a life off stage. Jamming in a garage with old friends and getting to know Sarah, and her loyal dog, Molly, is his definition of home.

The rest of Chasing Cross continue the tour, with help from Fallen Tuesday’s lead singer, Luke, as their replacement drummer. He brings life back to the band, but even still, without Rick, the band feels incomplete.

In the final book featuring Chasing Cross, choices will come to a head. Chasing Cross must decide whether to move on without Rick and Rick must settle his own battles, personally and professionally. Book 3: A Sound Like Hope

Books 4 and 5 Coming Soon

It was an absolute honour to be given the opportunity to interview Karolyn James, even if it was via a computer screen. I still imagined myself sitting anxiously with my notes as I awaited her presence.

Books and Friendz: Tell us a bit about yourself.

Karolyn James: I’m Karolyn James. I’m the author of a lot of books and under some pen names. I write romance and try to get into every niche in there. That means rockstars, bikers, small town, western, historical, and gritty new adult stuff. I’m blessed to do this full-time right now and I love it. As far as getting personal... I have two sons, two dogs, and a cat. I live in a nobody kind of town and kind of like it that way. I read, write, and enjoy my friends and family. And, of course, I LOVE spending days talking to readers!

B&F:  Why writing?

KJ:  Because it’s awesome! I get to make things up, write them down, and readers tend to enjoy it. It’s truly an amazing thing and a dream I’ve had since I was a kid. I’ve always loved reading and always wanted to be a writer.

B&F:  Do you write more by logic or intuition, or some combination of the two?

KJ:  Both, I guess. I go with what I know and what I like to learn about. Rockstars are natural because I grew up in that rockstar/music world. I obviously wasn’t around in the 1800’s for my historical romance books BUT I love reading and researching the subject. So I run with what I know and love.

B&F: Who would you say is your biggest supporter? –

KJ:  Not to be all “awwww” or cliché... but it’s the readers! They tell me what they like, don’t like, and what they want more of. I put out Brothers of Rock with the intentions of a couple books. Because of the response it turned into five... then turned into five more with a new band... AND there will be five more next year in 2015 with a new band!

B&F: What do you think most characterizes your writing?

KJ: Romance you can believe in. It’s not always love at first sight or laced with clichés. I like to write about those who have flaws, are flawed, will be flawed, and those who are challenged in life. It’s not always easy, right? I love building the romance from the ground up and letting the characters come to life.

B&F: For those that haven’t read your series Brothers of Rock, how many books are there so far and what are their titles?

KJ: There are two sets of books. The first five follow the band, Chasing Cross. The second five (four and five are still to be released) follow the band, Fallen Tuesday. You don’t need to read one set to read the other... but you should read them all!

Chasing Cross:
1- All Access
2- Broken Sound
3- Bitter Farewell
4- Buried Notes
5- Last song

Fallen Tuesday:
1- A Voice to Love
2- A Song For Us
3- A Sound Like Hope
4 & 5 yet to come!

B&F:  Break down the series for us?

KJ:  Each book follows a band member of the bands in the series. It follows not just the band member but the band. The tours, the shows, the writing, the music, the recording. These guys are rockstars on stage but real men in real life. That’s the fun part of writing these books.

B&F: Who or what inspired this series?

KJ:  I wanted to write a series about rockstars off stage. I wanted to capture those moments of being on stage in front of twenty thousand people... but what happens when the music is done? The show is over... the tour ends... it’s time to record... just imagine what it must be like. So I wanted to bring that to life. To show these rockstars as men.

B&F:  Who is your favourite character and why? What makes them so special to you?

KJ: That’s a hard question... wow. I LOVE Johnnie (from All Access) because he was the original rockstar for me. The guy and book that started it all. He holds a special place in my heart. I also love Danny (Bitter Farewell) for what he did by going home to find his long lost love. AND in the Falling Tuesday series I LOVE Gray (A Song For Us) because of how much he had to endure. But I need to be cliché... I LOVE THEM ALL!

B&F:  What projects are you working on at present?

KJ:  I’m getting ready to launch the fourth Fallen Tuesday Brothers of Rock book. Then I have a HUGE rockstar project starting in September. AND I can’t forget about my MC romance series, Back Down Devil. The third book in the series is coming the end of this month too. So many books!

Have you met the CARNAGE CAST?

I was born and raised in a small working class town in Essex, just outside of East London. I am married with three sons and in 2006 we all moved to the other side of the world, settling on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, about 50K outside of Melbourne Australia. It's a whole new way of life for us down here, we are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world.

I am currently a stay at home mum but in the past I have worked at Marks & Spencer, as a classroom assistant/teachers aid and have run my business.

As well as writing, I love to read and have been known to get through four or five books a week. My other interests are watching my boys play football...The round ball version. I am happy to admit to being an addict of social media and I owe a lot to my Facebook and Twitter family in promoting my work. I am also rather partial to a glass... or bottle of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favorite. Being a born and raised Essex girl, I will happily admit to be being a big fan of spray tans, Shellac and am regularly, waxed, tinted and sculpted, although I am more likely to be found in thongs/flipflops than a pair of white stilettos these days.

Name - Renee Lee Fisher (Author)

Age? – A woman never reveals her true age.

Where are you from – Eagleville, Pennsylvania (close to Philadelphia) USA

A little about your self `ie your education Family life etc - I have always had a passion to put the pen and my ideas to paper. I am a pure romance junkie and love to tell stories. I was an English Major of LaSalle University, and always wanted to be a writer. I also love to write lyrics, articles and wedding ceremonies. I have a wonderful family and support system. A loving husband of many years cheering me along and two cats that I refer to as my children, Nyah and Cody.

Tell us your latest news? I am still completing The Heartbeat Series (Rock Notes, Love Notes and Music Notes) which are available. (First Beat, First Bass and First Taste) are getting written and are to come this year into 2015. I just finished up another complete series that will come out all together it is The Crossing Series (The Knot Hole, The Passage and The Muse) This Summer 2014 - August

When and why did you begin writing? I always loved telling stories. My English teachers scored me with good grades in English and Creative Writing and I so enjoyed it.

When did you first consider yourself a writer? When I wrote several lyrics, magazine articles and then my first book.

What inspired you to write your first book? I was asked to put together a collection of my poems and short stories to share with others.

Do you have a specific writing style? I don’t think I do maybe hectic as I write in all different stories as they come to me.

How did you come up with the title? The Heartbeat Series I had the titles long before the storylines... I just saw them in my head.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp? Yes, that no matter how you think your life and heart has come apart through a loss or tragic occurrence you can pick up the pieces and make it much better than you ever thought possible. Not all love stories are - Happily Ever After, but many are of love stories that the couple never saw coming and they are - The Happy They Found Each Other.

How much of the book is realistic? Funny you should ask this, I tend to think my characters are very real. I do put a lot of myself into my books. I would definitely say there is plenty areas that are real.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life? Well in a way I draw inspiration from my own interactions with others and I know several musicians and I drew parts of them specifically for this series.

What books have most influenced your life most? So Many....But Mitch Albom, Five People You Meet in Heaven had me thinking about it for weeks after I was done reading.as to whom I will meet one day in the heaven’s above.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor? Well when starting out this series I was in search of some direction. Kallypso Masters showed me that to me and she took me under her wing and guided me along. I am so thankful to her for that. Also Shoshanna Evers has also reached out to me and given me some very smart advice and insight and avenues to assist me.

What book are you reading now? Actually although I have many books to read and I will as I read often...all I have been reading thus far are edits of my next series.

Are there any new authors that have grasped your interest? First there is Kallypso Masters, and some others recently are A. L. Wood and Elle Chardou, and D.T. Dyllin.

What are your current projects? Three more books in the Heartbeat Series, The Crossing Series, and then the Lovesick Trilogy and then I have several stand alone novels coming.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members. Meredith Bowery my editor as she has pushed me to be a better writer.

Do you see writing as a career? I hope so... I have so much more to tell.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book? I don’t think I would. You have to put it down and state it finished and move on or you will constantly change some scenario.

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated? Loved to doodle and then doodles became mazes on the paper and then mazes turned into poems and then poems grew to storylines.

Can you share a little of your current work with us? Oh I would love too. I am still diving in to the Heartbeat Series. The first three books are out and available, Rock Notes,  Love Notes and Music Notes which are the core of the story. I am finishing three more sequels to this storyline. Also I veered off to another series The Crossing Series, which is three books of a time travel romance, of endearing and everlasting love.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing? Yes, clipping my sentence structure, I am long winded.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work? As a true romantic I have to give this to Nickolas Sparks who has me with a box of tissues with each book. Then his books turn into movies and again I am grabbing the box of tissues.

Do you have to travel much concerning your book(s)? Sometimes to get the area or  location that I want to picture in the readers minds when they read.

Who designed the covers? Selfpub Book Covers in New York they do all my covers.

What was the hardest part of writing your book? Putting it out for the public to review.

Do you have any advice for other writers? Patience, and it is a learning adventure from concept to final print.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers, social media platforms and website? Thank you and I am humbled by their kind words from my series and I will bring you more so much more to read. They can follow my website at www.reneeleefisher.com to see all that is coming and planned. Also there are book trailers from them to view the series storyline. They can follow me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/reneeleefisherauthor and on Twitter at https://twitter.com/reneeleefisher

Do you remember the first book you read? One of my favorites was Green Eggs and Ham - Dr. Suess

Other than writing do you have any hobbies? I love to travel, mostly to St. Martin in the Netherland Antilles. I enjoy wines and am a foodie - loving great food.

What TV shows/films do you enjoy watching? I like Revenge/The Following and Black List TV Shows and I love Romance and Suspense movies. And I would love to create my own show or movie.

Favorite foods? Sushi, Lobster, and Shrimp.

Favorite colors? Black and Pink

Favorite Music? I Love Music and there are so many great songs and bands. I like Rock Music and even have a brother who is a lead vocalist in a popular band. I favor One Republic’s “Mercy” and the Goo Goo Dolls “Iris”, both these song lyrics speak so much to me in my head.

If you were not a writer what else would you like to have done? Been a Columnist and listened to people and tried to give sound and good advice on a daily column or magazine engaging them daily in impromptu conversations.

Final Thoughts? I always say we are all blessed with opportunities in our mind and individual talents that are endless. As I have taken mine mostly to the writing field. I am often asked how I come up with imaginary characters. Well for me they seem very real and these characters seem to take me into their lives in a story that I get so wrapped up in. I believe many story lines are close to real instances for me and this has left me excited for what more real possibilities lie ahead for me. Thank you for this interview, and allowing me the time to answer your questions, it has been fun...Renee Lee Fisher Author
